SPAM and Other JUNK

I, for the most part, do not like getting SPAM in my inbox. I usually do not mind forwards too much though from friends and family. I like the ones with cutesy pictures of animals and stupid things. I usually do not pass them along.

I HATE, however, e-mails that say, "Jane got this e-mail today and did not have enough e-mail contacts to send it to 5 people and 18 hours later she was hit and killed by a hit-and-run" or "Julie got engaged this afternoon and had been praying for that day to come her whole life...she received this e-mail that day and did not read it, she just deleted it, and her fiance died that evening in a wreck with an 18-wheeler." I do not want to read the poem, I do not want to force my friends and family to read that poem and I surely do not want to be afraid that I am killing someone because I save them from reading that crap.

How did this start? Does anyone else find it as annoying as I do?
