The Life and Times...

My friend adores the Chinese Proverb: May you live in interesting times. In fact, she too has that on her blog. I want to adopt it...We all definitely live in interesting times whether they are fabulous, exhausting or jinxed. No matter what, let us all live like there is "No Day but Today!"

TV Spot

I feel the need to discuss a few television shows. First, let me preempt this with a slight disclaimer...I love TV and TJ and I have certain shows we watch...almost religiously. Now, with that being said...lets talk about yesterday's TV -

1. Regis and Kelly.
I think that Kelly is crazy. I like her sometimes, but also want her to stop being retarded and act like and adult. I know she has kids and all, but please...you aren't three!

2. Millionaire.
These contestants walk away with little money. They don't gamble and I think that is boring. Where is the natural human greed kicking in? Try your luck people - you have a 1 in 4 chance of guessing right and you have life lines...use them before you cash out with $16,000!

3. Oprah.
Yesterday, Oprah had the Jimmy Choo people on her show . None of the models shoes fit! Urgh...very annoying. Why would I run out and buy Jimmy Choo shoes (if of course I could afford them) if my big tow or heel was going to hang off?

4. Deal or No Deal.
Howie Mandel - scary...Show - GREAT. Now here is a show that shows peoples true being. Unlike that crappy Millionaire show, Deal or No Deal shows how greed and money can get right in the way of a safe decision. If you have not watched this show...DO IT. I maybe love it because of my love for gambling and I can watch others screw up and I lose nothing!

5. The Bachelor Paris.
I am so glad that Travis picked Sarah from Nashville. Moana was so annoying. I wonder if when Travis watched back the show he saw the true side of Moana? She was whinny and fake. I was going to scream if she was picked too. Great choice Trav!

6. The Gauntlet II.
Beth is suck a whimp. She blames her moral dignity for the reason she is not going to battle Aneesa in the Gauntlet. Please girlfriend - it is apparent that you have no moral fiber (note to you, you are on reality TV) - you didn't want to battle Aneesa because you knew she was going to freak you up! YOU WERE SCARED CRAPLESS! Don't hide behind non-existent morals.

So, I guess that is about all I have to say about all that. Can you imagine that I actually did get other things done yesterday?

I forgot about this show

So, I used to love Evening Shade. Does anyone out there remember this show? It has been picked up for syndication on CMT and was on last night. TJ thinks I am crazy - he doesn't remember this show. It was on from 1990-1994 on CBS - Mondays 8pm.

This show was so good and funny. There was a character named Herman on the show that made me giggle. Burt Reynolds was an ex-football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers and moves back to his hometown of Evening Shade Arkansas to coach his old High School football team the Mules - who haven't won even one game in 2 years. And the show goes from there.

The creator of this show was Linda Thomason - the same lady who created FABULOUS shows like Designing Women and Murphy Brown. Like those shows, the last years were over run with political issues and made the comedy fall in the background...most people think that this was the time all three shows "jumped the shark!" Opinions?

Helllllllloooooooooooooo

So, I have been a bad blogger...again. I fall into these funks and just don't do it. I apologize to anyone out there who reads this and gives a damn.

Anywho...I enjoyed my week off. I went to Pittsburgh 2X's. Once with KT for a shopping adventure and then with Shannon for her birthday extraveganza. We saw Something New which was great and ate yummy food at the Cheesecake Factory. YUM-O (even though Racheal Ray bugs the crap out of me...YUM-O.)

And the weekend was full of fun. Mookie came in and we had a great dinner on Friday, then we spent a fun-filled say with Shannon and TJ joined in later and finally, we never left the couch on Sunday. It was so great!

Then...the beginning of this week I started working some at Howard Hanna to help out while the lady who usually answers phones and all is out for surgery. Well, I am so glad to be back. I really missed a lot of the people out here...and not others, but that is a whole other story!

On to fun and exciting news...I am going to be a full time realtor again. TJ and I have talked about it and I am going to focus on selling poperty and being healthy. I am going to work hard and make it work.

Now, I am so excited for tonight. We are going to play poker. I LOVE POCKER NIGHT! And I am a truly blessed wife as I am also allowed to play! Everyone start willing me to win! :)

Later - happy President's Day weekend too!

Current state of television programming

Ok, there is this show on MTV called Date My Mom. I have always thought it was a little strange, but wow...it has gotten out of control.

I generally think I am a pretty liberal person. I loved Brokeback Mountain and think someones sexuality is their business and shouldn't be made a big deal. So, I guess I don't know why I am so freaked out by the gay version of Date My Mom. I guess I just cannot imagine going on this show whether my children were straight or gay. These parents say the craziest things.

For example, this guy is dating potential boyfriends moms and a mom says, "my son has a huge winkie" R U KIDDING ME? I don't understand. There are also moms that say "My daughter has a huge rack." Please, lets objectify our children and whore them off for the sake of television and let our younger generations think this is ok.

Whether you are gay or straight, please do not go on this show. Why do I have to watch it?

Day One - Freedom

So, today is the first day of the new found freedom. I feel like I need a plan - a schedule per se - in order to maintain productivity. Otherwise, I see a lot of TV and...well, TV. So, I will use this day to do my homework (yes, homework), clean up some, relax a little and make a plan.

I think this plan will include a job search and apply time, IMC time, clean time (maybe focus on one thing a day), etc. I am hoping that I have at least interviews no later than 2/17. That is 2 weeks from last Friday - if you are reading this, start willing this to happen!

On a brighter note, we had a great weekend. We saw Munich and Match Point. Both very good movies! TJ and I spent a lot of time with just us and it was much needed and so great! Then on Sunday we had a exciting visit from Mookie and Andrew and had a great lunch at Black Bear. I was very happy that they stopped on in after their not so, well, their weekend. I am glad we could help make the weekend end on a bright note!

Then we watched the Steelers win the Super Bowl. YEAH!!!! I am sure Shannon was estatic as we were excited as well.

So, I guess that is about that. Have a great day!

Concerned Citizen

OK, people, I am getting concerned. Let me begin this post by saying this - I like President Bush and support him and his administration...mostly. Now, let me say this - I am afraid I am indeed a Democrat. (Snicker on Mookie, as I know this pleases you!) Generally I am independent in my thinking. I like some Democrat thinking and some Republican thinking so I would never vote a straight ticket. I vote for people by liking the majority of what they support. This all steams from the State of the Union Address. It is annoying this partisan crap. We didn't support this and didn't pass that so we will stand up and clap - we like what you just said and passed that so we will stand up and clap - left up, right up, left up, right up...and so it went.

Then those little Supreme Court Justices just sat still (only standing when they talked about Sandra Day O'Connor) because they are supposed to have no opinion and not take sides. Now, you may be wondering why I am a concerned citizen from this blog so far. The Supreme Court Justices scare me - there are 9 of them and 5 are Catholic? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Roe vs Wade...watch out - I am definitely scared. I cannot believe this happened.

Furthermore, as an aside, Line Item Veto Act - bad idea!

And that is all.
