The Life and Times...

My friend adores the Chinese Proverb: May you live in interesting times. In fact, she too has that on her blog. I want to adopt it...We all definitely live in interesting times whether they are fabulous, exhausting or jinxed. No matter what, let us all live like there is "No Day but Today!"

Am I getting old?

Please, could someone explain the name Young Jeezy to me? I don't know if I am getting old or what, but I just don't understand some rapper's names. I mean, really, Young Jeezy? Pretty Ricky? BunTha? I don't know...did our parents question Boy George? And if that is the case, am I just getting ridiculously old?

I just know that I would not have a stupid rap name if I was in fact a rapper. I would not be Leasyfosheezy or anything. How do they come up with this crap?

Recap - and interesting discoveries

OK - So, quickly let me recap the past few days. First and foremost, Thanksgiving was great. I worked a lot to get everything ready, but this day was truly not as stressful as Thanksgivings past. Our meal was great - if I do say so myself - and the deserts and rolls that everyone else brought were great (especially the rolls, Thanks, KT). There was a great deal of quality time with the family and the day ended with the coldest game ever - 0 degree windchill and 16 degrees without the wind. Needlesstosay, I wimped out at half time and went home with my Aunt Patty. In the parking lot a random girl got into the car with us and refused to get out. She thought my aunt was Ferris and I was Betty. She was so drunk and the "last one hit by lighting" whatever that means. If you want to hear that whole story, please ask - it is hilarious.

The night before Thanksgiving, TJ and I went to see RENT. It was great!! They truly did a wonderful job adapting it to the big screen. I thought we would either love it, hate it or be disappointed. Loved it was the outcome! We didn't get home until 12:45 and then had to prepare the Turkey for baking. I was uber tired but whatever - it was totally worth it.

Now, let me talk a litte about the picture on my page. I have wanted to see Brkeback Mountain for a long time. I am an IMDB junkie so to speak and I like to look ans see what my favorite actors and actresses are up to. All that know me know that I love Dawsons Creek, so I look into those characters often. I have known that Michelle Williams (Jen on Dawsons Creek) was going to be in this movie with Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal to be realesed in late 2005. I have wanted to see it and wanted to see it. I love Heath and Jake as well as all of my Dawsons cast - why would I not love this movie? I had no idea what it was really about and didn't really care either (again, Heath, Jake, Dawsons!).

Well, as we walked into RENT, there was a poster up for the movie and I got so excited. I told TJ how much I wanted to see the movie and the I couldn't wait. Then there was a trailer for it before RENT. Now, the tagline for Brokeback Mountain is "Love is a Force of Nature." and IMDB's plot summary is "A raw, powerful story of two young men, a Wyoming ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy, who meet in the summer of 1963 sheepherding in the harsh, high grasslands of contemporary Wyoming and form an unorthodox yet life-long bond--by turns ecstatic, bitter and conflicted." I wasn't quite expecting that their "unorthodox yet life-long bond" meant that Heath and Jake are lovers who are married and leading secret lives. I still want to see it, but I am not sure about it now - Heath and Jake making out? Making Love? Wierd. I will post more after I see the movie in January I assume (it is out in NYC and LA Dec 9, expanding Dec 16 and full release in January - it won't come to Mo'town on expanded release I don't think).

All in all, a great holiday, and I hope everyone enjoyed theirs as well. I am thankful for my wonderful husband, wonderful and healthy friends and family, lazy days and my baby dogs!

Off to Philly for a wedding. Linz:)

So Busy

As a precursor to this post - I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BUSY I AM" OR "I HAVEN'T blank BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN SO BUSY." And even more so, I hate when people want to have a contest about how busy they are versus how busy you may be. In truth it is all relative, right?

OK, with that being said, I am not complaining about how busy I have been today nor am I complaining about how busy I am going to be all this week. I am being extremely productive...I just wish there were more hours in my day for tricial things - sleep, doing things I really want to do, finishing things I have to do, etc. A lot of this problem would be fixed if only I could afford a cleaning lady and now that TJ got another raise, we can maybe afford one! :) Just kidding, I am our cleaning lady and TJ is our floor guy. We always find ways to spend extra money so that we are not saving anything extra. I don't to do that anymore either, so we are going to actually save.

Why am I so busy you ask? Well, everyone is coming for Thanksgiving and there are some family members coming who have yet to see our home. So I feel that we need to have everything in order. Otherwise, I am cooking dinner for 12-14 people on Thursday and have yet to get anything other than a Turkey, evaporated milk, canned yams and canned pumpkin, have to work until 5 on Wednesday and have discussion postings due, have a paper due on Sunday and we are going to Philly over the weekend for a wedding.

Otherwise, all is well. I am off to do high school presentations tomorrow - wish me luck that no one passes out on me tomoorrow! :)

If I cannot post again before, please have a great Thanksgiving! Love, Linz :)

Funny Thing...

This morning, we all came to work with the sound of a ridiculous beep. It was so loud - no, really, you have no idea - and truly hurt all of our ears. We had Herb - on of the drives (our drivers are great by the way...not that they read this, but he needs props!) - checked into it for us. We all thought it was the smoke detector with low battery...well, that wan't it.

What could it be? Herb finally tracked down the ear shattering sound and determined that it was coming from the carbon monoxide detector. We thought that it just needed a battery changing. NOPE - it is hard wired and doesn't even use batteries. Herb then called the landlords of our building (we can keep them nameless since THEY SUCK) and told then the situation. They sounded really worried and said they woudl be right down. Herb unplugged the carbon monoxide detector so we could at least not go insane...and since the landlords were on their way.

What is funny...you may ask...is that it is now 3:15 and we called at 8:25 to get this problem checked out. Did they get lost? I doubt it...they are two buildings up from us. Do they want us to die? I would hope not, but my thoughts here are "obviously". I think we should go home...this seems like quiet the issue. However, we truck on - in hopes that our husbands do not get to use our life insurance policies.

If no one speaks to me in the next few days, send someone to the Red Cross Blood Services office in Mrogantown to see if we are alive. Who knows...we may all fall asleep on our desks and not wake up.

Onward!

Who Knew?

I mean really...who knew that I once had a blog in 2002? I vaguely remember this, but I do not remember it being through Blogger. It was hosted on tekwerks.net. (As a sidenote, the reason it stopped being hosted there is because the owner of tekwerks is an ass and...well...lets leave it at that.) Then I forgot all about it.

As it turns out, my good friend mookie insisted that I become a blogger so that she can keep up and have something more to read in between all the docs she reviews in her pjs from her couch with Dr Phil on in the background. Soo, when I set this blog up, I remember it being odd that I could not have the username I usually choose and thus has to revert back to the old username that was my norm for years.

Now, you are asking yourself...why in the world is Lindsay rambling on and on about this? Well, I went to log in today to make a random post - not about this mind you - but just about life and WVU football. When I went to log in, I guess I entered my usual username and not the old one I had to start using (see about for reason again) and got logged into a blog Lindsay Says... Obviously my blog is called the Life and Times... so I was wierded out for sure. I read the posts I had done back in the day and laughed. Of course, I was just as bad of a blogger then as I am now. (Trying to be better - for real!) It was almost like I entered the Twilight Zone - there is another Lindsay with my same password...NO WAY.

So, now that we all know about that, I want to give a shout to Amy and Candace for popping their blog cherries too. Very exciting. Now if only Hard Times would post :). I will be adding you girls to my links list as soon as I figure it out again. Mookie, I may be calling for your assistance - as I see you have done the same!

Well, I guess I am back to work. Will chat soon - will post again soon - multiple days in one week is a triumph for sure though! Many props to Linz :)

Adios -

OK OK OK OK

OK - So I haven't been around in a while...or like forever it seems. I am still alive and still working my unhappy little job. At the URGENT pleadings of some fellow bloggers...uhha - you know who you are...I am blogging once again. I would not want any of you to feel deprived or left out when you don't know what has been going on in this world of mine.

Let me clue you in incase you have missed it...I go to work between 7a and 8a. I work (no real lunch, quick bite if I am lucky, and keep on working through) and then I get to come home between 6p and 10p. On a really bad day, it seems I am working approximately 15 hours. Good days, I am still working 10 hours. Although my salary is pretty nice here in Morgantown, it is a salary based on 40 hours a week. Not 75 hours (at which I would be making $9.53 an hour) nor 50 hours (at which I would be making $14.29 an hour). THe problem here is that I work much harder than that pay and could be a manager at BK and make more per hour!

Enough rambling...I hope all is well and all is happy! I BLOGGED!!!! :)
